Basically loose diamonds are diamonds that are not yet set in jewelry. India manufactures 9 out of 10 loose diamonds in the world. The rough is imported from Africa, Antwerp or then through DTC, the mining company which appoints 'sight-holders' i.e. the manufacturing companies that have the right to buy 'sights' from them as they are proven to be manufacturers themselves and not re-sellers of the rough diamonds.
Indian labor has been highly economical hence India is the hub for loose diamonds.

Loose diamonds come in varying colors, shapes, cuts and sizes. The colors range from white, brown, yellow, black etc. The shapes are round, princess, tapers, baguettes and more. The cuts are brilliant-cut, asscher cut, rose cut, single cut among others. The sizes vary from 0.005 carat to 5 carat and bigger.
